Classroom Based Programs
Breaking Free works with elementary, middle school and high school students, their families and local school
districts to prevent the initiation of the use of mood altering substances, especially tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana. Funded
in part by the Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Community Health and Prevention, Breaking Free works in partnership
with each school to develop a customized plan using research-based programs with proven effectiveness to maintain healthy environments
in the school. Examples include such programs as
Too Good for Drugs,
Life Skills, social norms and social marketing approaches.
