After School Programs
The WeGo Together for Kids 21st Century Learning Programs serve middle school and elementary students
enrolled in West Chicago Elementary District 33. The program provides the following services:
After School Programs
Eligible students
participate in after school programs that incorporate healthy snacks, fitness and recreational activities, homework assistance, and
drug and alcohol prevention activities that improve classroom performance, increase school engagement, and reduce the use of alcohol,
tobacco, and other drugs.
The program objectives provide students a well-rounded education beginning
with:
-- Opportunities to succeed in school
-- The dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs
-- Life skills related to relationships
-- Alternatives to violence, and
-- Opportunities to participate in community events
Summer Program
Breaking Free provides a
summer program for enrolled youth four days per week during the summer, reinforcing academic skills and while providing a safe and
enjoyable experience for participants. It includes lunch, problem solving activities, arts and crafts, fitness activities, nutrition
lessons and substance abuse prevention curricula.
Parent Literacy Classes
Literacy DuPage provides customized literacy skills
development classes as well as ESL one-on-one tutoring to parents of children in the program.
Family Fitness for Life
Designed
by the West Chicago Park District to provide two hours of physical fitness and recreational activities for up to 100 families
once per month.
