Structured Early Intervention/Alternative to Suspension Program

This program is for teens who have experimented with drugs or alcohol but are not using mood altering substances on a regular basis. Program success requires both teen and parent involvement.

Appropriateness for the program is determined through the completion of an individual assessment. Teens and their families participate in a series of educational group sessions that address substance use, problem-solving and decision making strategies.

Program Goals:

  • To intervene early and prevent the ongoing, continued use of drugs and alcohol
  • To keep teens safe around others who may be using
  • To be a resource to parents

Topics include:

  • Marijuana, alcohol and other drugs
  • Tobacco
  • Peer pressure
  • Family and Personal Values
  • Refusal Skills
